Types of fish in the world

There are over 32,000 known species of fish in the world and they come in all shapes and sizes. Fish are an important resource for humans worldwide and they have been around for centuries.

 Today, there are more than 32,000 known fish species and they can be divided into three main groups: bony fish, jawless fish, and cartilaginous fish. Bony fish make up the largest group with nearly 27,000 species and they include popular fish such as salmon, tuna, and trout. 

Jawless fish are the second largest group with 970 species and they include lampreys and hagfish. Cartilaginous fish are the third largest group with 34,300 described species and they include sharks, rays, and skates. Each type of fish has its own unique characteristics that make it special. Whether you are a fisherman or a seafood lover, there is a type of fish out there for everyone to enjoy!

 

Salmon

There are six main types of salmon in the world. They include the five Pacific species king, sockeye, chum, coho, and pink salmon, as well as the one Atlantic species, the Atlantic salmon. All salmon are anadromous fish, meaning they live in salt water but spawn in fresh water. Salmon are prized for their meat, which is high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Salmon is the common name for several commercially important species of euryhaline ray-finned fish from the family Salmonidae, which are native to tributaries of the North Pacific (in Asia and North America) and closely related rivers in Europe. Salmon are anadromous: they hatch in freshwater streams or rivers, migrate to the ocean (or lakes), then return to their natal stream or river to spawn at maturity. Trout

There are many different types of trout fish in the world. The most popular and well-known type is the rainbow trout. Rainbow trout are known for their bright colors and their ability to grow to large sizes. They are also the undisputed kings of North American trout fishing. Steelhead trout are another popular type of trout. They are known for their strength and their ability to fight when they are caught.

Herring

Herring are a type of fish that are found in many different parts of the world. They are a very important type of fish as they provide food for many different animals. Herring are a small, streamlined schooling fish that feed on other small fish and crustaceans.

 They are a very important part of the diet of whales, orcas, dolphins, sharks, sea lions, cod, saithe, tuna, salmon, halibut and a number of seabirds. Herring play a very important role in the ecosystem and are an important part of the food chain.

Mackerel

Mackerel is a type of fish that is found in temperate and tropical seas around the world. There are many different types of mackerel, but they all have some common features. Mackerel are usually slim and streamlined, with a long body and a forked tail. They are fast swimmers and are often found in schools. Mackerel are an important food fish, as well as being popular for sport fishing.

Anchovies

There are more than 100 different types of anchovies in the world. They range in size from 8 cm to 32 cm. Anchovies are a type of small, saltwater fish that are related to herring. 

They are found in marine waters, but can also enter brackish water. Most anchovies are green, but some can be brown or black. Anchovies are an important food source for many people around the world. They are high in nutrition and contain a lot of protein and omega-3 fatty acids.

Catfish

Catfish are a diverse group of ray-finned fish. Named for their prominent barbels, which resemble a cat's whiskers, catfish range in size and can be found in fresh or salt water habitats all over the world. Blue catfish, channel catfish, and flathead catfish are the three primary species of catfish in the United States. 

They are also the most sought-after by anglers due to their large size and tasty flesh. Anglers call the most popular catfish species The Big Three. The Big Three include blue catfish, flathead catfish, and channel catfish. 

The top three types of catfish that are commonly found in America are blue catfish, channel catfish, and the flatheadcatfish. Catfish is a very common name for a wide variety of freshwater fish.
